Setup
Setup is straightforward: the power cable is plugged into the back of the unit, and the power switch is located on the back, to the left of the power connection. Once powered on, the unit displays a home screen with options for programs, surgery, settings, and update. Selecting “surgery” is the starting point for a case.
Connecting the Grounding Plate
From the surgery setting, the first step is plugging in the grounding plate. The corresponding port flashes red before the plate is connected.

This top of the line electrosurgery unit offers plenty of power at 200 watts, enabling surgeons to utilize this technology for a wide array of clinical applications. This unit comes standard with connections for both monopolar energy and bipolar energy, giving the user as much versatility as possible during surgery.
It’s a highly customizable and effective unit that will enable you to perform cases that you may not be currently performing, as well as saving time and effort in the OR. The Vetergy 200 will arrive with the following items.
Your user manual. Grounding pate. Autoclavable monopola pencil. Four disposable monopoly pencils and holster. An assortment of various electrode tips. And a bipolar foot pedal. As far as the setup is concerned, it’s very simple and easy to do.
All you’ll do is plug in the power cable in the back of the unit and then the power switch is also on the back located to the left of it. Once it’s powered up, it will show you this screen where it gives you different options for programs, surgery, settings, and update.
I would select the surgery setting to start. From there you’ll first want to plug in your grounding plate. It will be flashing red. The part will be flashing red before you plug it in. Once you plug it in.
It will turn it into a sustained wipe. You can also plug in your foot pedal into this port. You want Monte Polo pencil. We’ll plug into the port directly above. The ground. Pad. All of your monopolar settings are shown on the left side of the screen.
And your bipolar settings are shown on the right side of the screen. You have various settings that you can configure with this unit. So to start, to change the wattage or power. Of the system, you simply click onto your cut setting.
And you can turn it down. Or up. You’ll press the check mark to confirm that power setting. So everything labeled in yellow is cut. Everything in blue is your coax. From there, you can also change your other settings. So right now it’s set to blend, but you can also select pure cut enhanced or blend.
So I’ll first talk through your different monopolar cut settings, all highlighted in yellow. So first you have pure cut. Which is best for precise initial incisions, and it’ll give you a light amount of coagulation.
If you’d like to switch it to blend, simply press the button. It will give you all the options and blend is on the far right. Select it. It’ll pull up blend. So blend is when the current is modulated giving you a cut and coagulation effect.
If you want to switch to enhanced, do the same thing click enhance. And this is best for cutting through connective tissues and it’ll reduce any eschar production. So now we’ll talk through your different coagulation settings.
First, you have forced. Which is best for quicker and more superficial coagulation. From there, you can switch it to soft. Which is best for slower and deeper tissue coagulation when there’s more blood or fluids present.
From there, you can switch it to the fulguration mode. And this is when the electrode is not in contact with the skin. But instead the user would hover the electrode tip over the tissue and the current is sprayed across a larger surface area coagulating that surface.
I also want to talk through another setting that you can use, which is your flash timer setting located here in the middle of the screen. Right now it’s set to continuous. Meaning when you go to press your cut or coagulation button on your pencil.
It will give you a continuous flow of energy. If you want to use a flash timer, simply hit the continuous button. Switching it to timed. This will pulse the electrical current by tenths of a second rather than delivering a continuous flow of energy to the patient.
This decreases the overall duration of energy being delivered through the patient. Over the course of the procedure. So increasing patient safety. If the screen reads continuous, this indicates that the flash timer is not on.
And the unit will deliver a continuous flow of energy. One more setting I would like to mention is the save feature. So if you like the setup of your screen how it is for a certain procedure, simply hit save.
And then you can name it spay or neuter or whatever procedure you’d like to name it. And then hit the enter button and it’ll save those settings for you. So here on the far right is your port for your bipolar forceps.
When using bipolar energy, it will give you the ability to clamp onto a vessel with the forceps and seal that vessel very quickly. It also allows the energy to pass through only the tines of the bipolar forceps rather than the energy passing through the patient like it does with monopolar energy.
