Benefits of Minimally Invasive Veterinary Surgery
More veterinarians are moving toward minimally invasive veterinary surgical procedures. The benefits of a minimally invasive approach to veterinary surgery include shorter anestesia time, smaller incisions, less blood loss, and safer surgery overall. These benefits will result in happier patients and can actually result in an increase in referrals.
Veterinary Endoscope Use and Training
Flexible veterinary endoscopy instruments are beneficial for the removal of foreign bodies as well as biopsies. Our graspers, forceps, snares, and extraction baskets are specifically designed for veterinary use. The high definition medical grade monitor allows for superb visualization to help the veterinarian successfully complete the procedure.
In addition to providing veterinarians with high quality veterinary endoscopes, VetOvation provides hands on training programs for you and your staff. These programs will help you understand how to use all of the products that we offer including our veterinary endoscopy systems. Our team has over 20 years helping veterinarians and their staff effectively utilize our minimally invasive surgical instruments. Learning how to correctly use our endoscopes will result in safer and more efficient surgical procedures.
VetOvation Endoscopy System
VetOvation is a leader in veterinary endoscopy, delivering cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic solutions trusted by veterinary practices nationwide. The VetOvation endoscopy system supports both flexible and rigid scopes, providing diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for veterinary practices of all sizes. The high-definition camera system enables upper and lower endoscopy for tissue biopsy and foreign object removal. Smaller flexible scope options are also available for bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy and cystoscopy.
Gastroscope
The gastroscope connects to the VetOvation processor with the VetOvation label facing up until it clicks into place. Distilled water is added to the water bottle, which attaches to the side of the scope. The signal connector plugs into the processor with the red dot aligned to the correct port, and suction tubing connects to floor suction on the side of the scope.
Camera & Controls
The system allows you to capture photos, record video, and review media directly from the processor to a USB drive. Before each procedure, white balance the camera by pointing the scope at something white (such as gauze) and pressing the AWB button.
Scope Functions
- Blue button (half press) — delivers air through the scope tip, useful for distending the stomach during examination
- Blue button (full press) — delivers water through the scope tip
- Red button — activates suction to remove air and water at the end of a procedure
Prior to each procedure, place the scope tip in a water bucket and gently press the blue button to confirm air flow is working correctly.
Semi-Disposable Flexible Scope
The semi-disposable flexible scope is available in two diameter options:
- 5.8 mm diameter scope with 2.8mm working channel for bronchoscopy & rhinoscopy
- 2.5 mm diameter scope with a 1.1mm working channel — for smaller patients or tighter anatomy such as rhinoscopy in feline or cystoscopy and bronchoscopy in the canine.
Setup
- Plug the signal connector into the processor with the connector facing up.
- Connect watter bottle to side of gastroscope
- Connect suction tubing to oposite side of scope and floor suction.
Image & Video Capture
- Tap button 1 — takes a photo Tap again will save the image to USB drive
- Tap button 2 — starts/stops video recording
Video Otoscope
The video otoscope features a working channel and attaches to the camera head, with a bifurcating adapter on the side of the scope. This allows clinicians to connect a luer lock IV bag for fluid delivery while simultaneously introducing a flexible grasper through the working channel. Common applications include hair and debris removal, biopsy collection, polyp removal, and ear canal irrigation.
Suction & Irrigation System
The suction and irrigation system connects to a standard IV bag and floor suction unit:
- Forward button — delivers fluid down the scope lumen via a red rubber catheter
- Back button — activates suction to a canister
This simultaneous suck-and-irrigate capability is especially effective for breaking up and clearing debris within the dog ear canal.
Multi-Purpose Rigid Scope (2.7 mm diameter with 30-degree angle)
The multi-purpose scope is 2.7 mm in diameter and available in 0-degree or 30-degree configurations. Common uses include rhinoscopy and cystoscopy in female dogs.
